Technology Tip

If you are having issues connecting to Zoom classes, please follow these steps:

1. Restart the chromebook – logging your child into the chromebook again will log your child into Zoom. If your child was successful in attending a morning meeting, you still may have to restart the chromebook to log back in to Zoom for an afternoon meeting.

2. If you are still unsuccessful connecting to a Zoom class after restarting, please contact your teacher to confirm that the link for the meeting is correct.

Discount at the Sport Shop

Want to get a jump on your Holiday shopping?
The MPA is selling vouchers for the Darien Sport Shop Charity Days fundraiser.  Buy a voucher for $10 and get 15% off all items* purchased at the Sport Shop on October 23 and October 24, 2019.  You can buy multiple tickets to share with friends and family.

Fundraising also provides funds for improvements to the school for both staff and students.

This year we are planning to add picnic benches and umbrellas to the internal courtyard.  Please considering purchasing a voucher to support MMS and our local community stores.

If you are interested in purchasing a ticket please email us.  We hope you will participate.

From the Co-Chairs ….

MMS Parents,
We hope you are all settled into the school routine now that fall has actually started.  Please join us for our next Parent Talk, scheduled for October 23, 2019 at 9.15am in the MMS auditorium.
The meeting will be a presentation on the Capstone Project. This is an interdisciplinary project that encourages our students to develop critical thinking and improve their research and presentation skills while studying the concept of change in an area of interest to them. The Capstone project spans all three years of Middle School and is primarily taught in FLEX periods but also integrated into core subjects.  Come to the next Parent Talk and discover what Capstone is all about.  We hope to see you there.
Your MPA Co Chairs,
Marina Carey & Kelly Scallon

Academic Center

Academic Center meets Monday through Thursday, after school, beginning on Tuesday, Oct. 1, from 2:30 until 3:45.

Students will go to Room 161 to check in and set a goal for the day.

Teachers are available for extra help in all subject areas, including organizational skills. Students can choose to go either to a room in which small group instruction is offered or, if no direct help is needed, to a quiet room to complete assignments independently.

We ask that students commit to a minimum of two days, though they may choose to attend 3 or 4 days. Click here to sign your child up for the Center.

Parent Talks

The Middlesex Parent Association (also known as the MPA) represents ALL parents of Middlesex Middle School students and meets periodically to foster a strong line of communication between parents and Middlesex faculty and staff.

We have decided to call these meetings “Parent Talks,” and as the parent of an MMS student, you are encouraged to come and be a part of them!
Parent Talks are more than just meetings; they include timely, meaningful topics presented by school administrators and/or outside speakers.

Our next Parent Talk is this Wednesday, 9/25 at 9:15am in MMS Auditorium (Come at 9am for coffee!)

Vaping Presentation + Meet our New School Resource Officer (SRO)

Principal Somers will introduce the new School Resource Officer (SRO) Officer Stuart Schwengerer, and Dennis Bludnicki from Liberation Programs will make a presentation on vaping and how to discuss the dangers with your child.

This year the MPA Board is also working to include minutes from the Parent Talks and/or videos and links whenever possible on the MPA website for parents who are unable to attend the Parent Talks.
